 The Larssons and the "Dancing Seadog"
« Thread Started on Sept 27, 2009, 11:02am »

"Dancing Seadog" is a two-storey building - a bar on the ground floor and a few guestrooms upstairs. It is run by a family of walruses, Yokke and Berta Larsson, and their (obviously) adopted son, a fox named Lars. Due to it's location and friendly keepers, every seaman returning home will go past it, and stop for just a little, to get warm with a glass or two and exchange a few words with the bartender. And the old walrus has been all around the world, so one could listen to his tales for hours. At least, that's what the fishermen tell their wives when they are late.

Pictures on the walls confirm that Yokke indeed has been all around the world. They also tell that his oldest son, Fredrik, is a navy officer, married with cildren and visits rarely, the second son, Finneas, is a freighter captain, married without children (yet) and visits occasionally, and Ilse, the youngest daughter, is a teacher, engaged and visits often. The walls themselves could tell a good deal more, because many a tall tale was told and sometimes even happened in the "Dancing Seadog". But the problem with walls is that even if they have ears, they don't have mouthes.

Larssons are always ready to offer a warm room and a hot meal to a stranger, especially in bad weather. And when the sea is raging, there's always a candle in their house burning in front of an icon, for those who are not at home. Some call it a stupid superstition, but even those can't deny a fact - evil and mischievous powers avoid the "Dancing Seadog".

===============

Name: Yokke Larsson, "Pa Tusker"
Walrus, Male, 75

Height: 2.05 meters (6 feet 10 inches);
Weight: <Honestly overweight>;
Body: Light-brown;
Hair: Long white moustache and some rare white hairs;
Eyes: Grey;
Clothes: Striped blue and white sweater, baggy jeans, belt with a massive buckle;
Occupation: Owner and barkeeper of the tavern "Dancing Seadog".

"I've been around, I've seen a few things. Believe me, it's not the weirdest of them."

Yokke Larsson is the extreme case of flegmatic. No single villager can remember ever seeing Pa Tusker angry. Not even when drunken fights started in the Dancing Seadog. No matter how large or strong were the drunkards, Larsson would just scoop the troublemakers one by one and throw them outside. Thought, the most raging ones sometimes required the trademarked Unsoppable Uppercut. Old man's skin, tough as leather with salts of all the seas, and a massive hulk of fat and muscles (but mostly muscles) reduce even the most vicious attacks to puny kids' punches.

Being so large and always calm, Pa Tusker makes an impression of being slow. True, old walrus doesn't like to run, but when necessary, he can be surprisingly fast. Especially when performing any sea-related task. And Yokke is quite fond of fishing, and is often seen angling on weekends. But his favourite occupation is telling stories at the Seadog's bar. Being the oldest villager with a clear memory, he can share quite a number of them - if you only are willing to listen.

Additional: Understands several languages, skilled with a harpoon.

Usage: With permission.

===============

Name: Berta Larsson, "Ma Tusker"
Walrus, Female, 73

Height: 1.92 (6 feet 5 inches);
Weight: <Quite plump>;
Body: Greyish-brown;
Hair: White; long, but worn under a kerchief;
Eyes: Blue;
Clothes: Depends on the day of the week, most often a dress or a blouse with a long skirt; on weekdays - with an apron.
Occupation: Cook and roomkeeper of the tavern "Dancing Seadog".

"More soup, hon?"

Berta, Yokke's wife, is about as large and calm as her husband. She's fussing around more, keeping things clean and cooking, but she doesn't have this aura of rock-solid safety. She does, however, make the best soups in the village, and her pies are delicious. And oh, don't you ever try to offend her children - a rolling pin is a weapon in her arms.

Additional: Rarely leaves the tavern.

Usage: with permission.

===============

Name: Lars Larsson
Fox, Male, about 14

Height: <Average>;
Weight: <Average>;
Body: Orange-red with white;
Hair: Dark-brown, short and curly;
Eyes: Brown;
Clothes: Jeans, "Tartan" shirt;
Occupation: General helper at the tavern "Dancing Seadog".

"Pa tought me this trick"

Lars is the youngest son of Larssons. He was found on the shore after a particularly heavy storm, and since then became an integral part of the family and the village. He's not a walrus, so the question of where he's from was among the first he asked his adopted parents. But there are no "adopted" children in the Larsson family - there are children, period. So Lars proudly wears his last name and tries to never ashame it, while his inquiring nature gets him in all kinds of trouble.

Additional: Inventive, puts his pocket knife to good use.

Usage: With permission.

Wow, these characters look great, and we just so happened to need a tavern in this village. :3
I think this format looks fine and doesn't need to be changed. I better finish working on that list of heights, though.

Btw, I always loved the last name Larsson on a fox.

Are you, maybe, familiar with Ludwig XIV Larsson?

Sure am! In fact, he may be the reason I associate "Larsson/Larsen" with "fox". X3
