IDENTIFIED AS CHIEF SCIENCE OFFICER & HEAD OF RESEARCH, ORPHEUS HANGAR. ACCESS GRANTED.

Cryo-sleep was generally successful across the board for the crew. We've had a few cases of temporary paralysis, but that's to be expected after such prolonged periods in stasis. The ship's VI (Virtual Intelligence) systems have kept everything in order, no problems thus far. Progress has been astonishing; my initial thoguhts of the crew are being disproven as each day goes by-I'm actually growing respect for some of my crewmates.
We've entered the Alpha-Centauri system, approaching Sigma-B43, en route to contact the landing team whom we have confirmed left the ship on-schedule and have set up base. We have a number of messages to filter through, multiple incident reports followed by false alarm alerts, and-what caught my interest-a report that they;'ve found something that my father and I would find "interesting." Hopefully the 5-hour wait will be worth it.

((Alright, that first post was just to get me into the mood to kickstart this thing....also shows just how clueless the guys aboard the Harbinger are going to be when the infection hits them. Anyways, this post will occur before that, starting with the ground/dig team.))
"Careful! CAREFUL!" A Germanic-sounding voice slightly echoed off the sides of the heavy machinery-though barely audible over all the racket they were making. "Do you want to break what's down there?! You've got to slow down and be careful, dumbkoffs!" The man was Doctor Wilson Vorheim, a bat, and one of the Harbinger's archaeologists. While the rest of the crew was still aboard said ship in cryo-sleep, he and the rest of those dedicated as the ground crew had been searching and exploring this Earth-like world around Alpha Centauri, the nearest star to Sol-their own home star. Shortly after arriving, a number of the scanners detected a geographical anomaly, and were currently in the process of digging out a mine to try and find out what it was. The doctor rubbed his forehead and shielded his eyes, taking in their surroundings. Though Earth-like in composition and location-as well as the abundance of water-the land was barren, devoid of life of any sort-not even any microbes had been found as of yet. A dead world. Inhabitable, yes, but still dead. He shook his head a bit in disappointment, tired of staring at the empty horizon and turning his attention back to the dig site. He then turned to Tyler, stepping up to the red panda. "How much further until they reach the cavern?"

Tyler's image popped up on the doctor's RIG. The red panda nodding at the inquiry as typing could be heard over the communication link. Analyzing the imagery on the screen he nodded again. "Here we go sir. If this screen is correct... and I can assure you they are your team is within approximately 100 meters of your target. If you keep up this pace you will reach the anomaly within the next 2 to 3 hours." The red panda smiled a bit, pushing his glasses up a bit. "Anything else I can help with professor?"

"Damnation!" The bat barked, obviously not happy with that figure. "Relay the message to all crew at the dig site; we're kicking those drills into high gear. I know the risk of collapse, but we've been here long enough!" Before even letting Tyler respond, Wilson cut off his communications with the Red Panda aboard the repaired Cygnus.
"For those of you whom did not hear..." He began again after reaching the main dig crew, shouting over the noise of the massive drilling equipment, "Were are going into overtime. I want those drills running at maximum capacity; we're going to breach that cavern within the next half hour!"
