Full Name: James "Jumper" Thompson
Colonial Rank: Captain
Colony of Residence: Leonis
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Birthday: March 8
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 193
Species: Red Fox
Eye color: Blue
Fur color: Uh...red? ^^;
Hair color: N/A
Markings: Typical white covering his chest, belly, and chin. Typical black hands and feet.
General Appearance:
When he's off-duty, he typically wears a loose-fitting T-shirt, and jeans belted to his waist. He's a very easy-going guy, and his posture almost always reflects it. When he's standing in one place, he typically has one hand against the wall, leaning on it casually, or--if he can't do that--he'll typically stick one foot out and lean on his other foot. He's almost always seen relaxing or lounging around, playing cards instead of taking advantage of the gym, that sort of thing. He isn't out of shape, per se, but he could probably be in better shape.
Personality:
He's a jokester at heart. It's no wonder he and Midnight hooked up the way they did, what with both of them constantly cracking jokes--oftentimes at each others' expense, or--in James' case, at least--at their own. He's very easy-going and laid back, and is typically very lenient with those under his command, an attribute which everyone (including him) knows will never earn him the CAG. He doesn't seem to care, and the only times he's ever lost wingmen was when those wingmen disobeyed orders or did something that went against the rules of Viper dogfighting conduct, so to speak. Oddly enough, there is a side of him that only Midnight has seen, the flip-side, so to speak, where he falls into a depressive funk for hours on end. He only lets this happen when he and Midnight are somewhere private, and he won't even tell *her* why... Only she can snap him out of it, though, and she has agreed never to tell anyone about these black moods.
Field(s) of expertise:
Viper jockeying, gambling, and (according to him) lovemaking. Though only Midnight could ever possibly corroborate this last claim, and so far, she's just joked about how "that fox couldn't satisfy a virgin mouse if he had a roadmap"... Despite this, she still keeps going back to him, suggesting--well, I'll let you figure that part out. X3
History:
After finishing basic training and basic flight, he became a Viper jockey at the earliest age the military allowed. Despite his laid-back attitude, he took to the sky like a bird, and distinguished himself--much to his superiors' chagrin. He has been threatened with insubordination charges multiple times for not taking things more seriously, but he's never actually done enough to earn those charges leveled against him, and has yet to see the inside of a brig.
Initially, he was assigned to a battlecruiser, and flied jockey there, but the cruiser's commander felt that James' skills were being put to waste in a battleship that focused its combat more on turrets than on dogfighting. That commander applied for James to be transferred to another ship, and he eventually was. At the battlestar he was transferred to, though, his superiors couldn't stand his laid-back attitude, and applied for him to be transferred again. When he saw his third ship in a year's time, he gave himself the nickname "Jumper". However, once he landed on the Atlantia, it seemed his jumping days were over. His superiors were no more thrilled with his attitude than his previous ones had been, but they recognized his piloting skills, and kept him on.
When communications went bad during one mission--jammed by their enemies--three of his wingmen went to chase a bogey he recognized as a trap. He flew after them, trying to get them stopped, but he only managed to save one of the three jockeys... That he put himself in danger for them earned him a medal and a promotion from Lieutenant to Captain, but after that, he started falling into depressive funks at times. What he hasn't told anyone is that just before the two jocks were shot down, communications were restored... Both he and the other jockey heard their dying screams.
It was during one of these funks that Midnight happened to find him, quite by accident. The two of them had tossed insults at each other in passing--both of them knowing the other was joking--but when she found him like that, she reached out to him. The two fell in love, and when Whisper was assigned as Midnight's co-pilot and ECO, they both extended their love to the shy dog-girl as well--especially after both Midnight and James had found out about Whisper's abuse-ridden past. In recent weeks, Whisper has tried to open up to him, but she still can't stand to be touched, except by handshake, a fact that makes James' blood boil, and makes him lust for the blood of everyone who hurt her.
Which pretty much brings us to present day...
Other Notes:
Sorry. I completely forgot to post him in anything remotely resembling a timely manner. XD
