We're also talking cartoony here, so in cartoon physics, this may be possible.... (...lol flying pokemon too >A>) ....And overcompensating? naw, overcompensating would be.... either some LARGE species of Eagle, or a salt water crocodile (they found a skin that was at least 20 feet.... from snout-to-tail) .....REAL compensation? a Blue whale~ ...kay I'll stop being "her royal majesty, Beeotch smart-ass" X3 *jumpropes away to avoid the bricks*

I think that it's actually the fact that they are not anthros that allows them a greater range in height than if they were. As anthros, they be confined to the 5-6 foot human range with few going over or under. but being more cartoony/feral, they can be real small to accentuate that the species is tiny or they can be real big. And no, he ain't overcompensating for anything I was the one who suggested he make an Albatross for this RP cause I love those birds and we needed at least one. Also:

Okay, but honestly, I still think 7 feet is overboard on the height scale. I mean really, what if there -was- a crocodile or eagle character. How tall would that be? 15, 20 feet? =/

I know, in the conversation with Shani about it I did say that it's a bit too big now that I look at it:
I need him smaller, but somewhat bigger than others on chart especially Chaya who's species is far smaller than any albatross. With a large wingspan. Mizzy, as you can see with Shani's vid albatross can just barely carry their own weight struggling to lift off nevermind a person on top.

Yeah, I'm sorry about my earlier comment, Doyle. I was concerned about the height, because looking around myself, I wasn't able to find a clear definition of an Alabtross' height. And I mean -actual- height, from toes to head. One source said 135cm and another said 2 meters, and I can't find an article clearly defining their height. Not even the wiki entry.
My concern was simply because a character I had planned was to be a whooping crane, and in real life those things reach a height of 5 feet, easy. I'd prefer my character not be a giant. =/

Since the body length of the species I'm suing is around 4 feet or so I suppose the crane would be taller with the neck and all, but in general the albatross would be bigger over all in general mass with width and wingspan.

Oh yea, I see your concern now, Mizzy. XD How tall do you plan on making your whooping crane?

Well, if your character comes in at 3'3" I would honestly hesitate to make him any taller than 5 feet. Although if she is 4' then he could be taller. But the issue with messing around with heights too much, especially in a toony setting, is practicality. You get a civilization with buildings and specifically sized doorways, you want all the characters to be able to fit through them. And so on.
Doyle's Albatross could be stocky in form and maybe the same size or a foot taller without being outrageously out of bounds, but I still don't know how tall they are, and we have to be careful about determining based on their body lengths, because cranes are tall -and- long, which would only -add- to height in that instance.

Hokay, I think I may have a solution, so hang onto your webbed feet, chicks and pidgeons.
What if we down the height even more to NORMAL animal height? That way, the albatross, at a normal albatross height may be able to take off better. Though, with the flying still a problem, why not a Pelican? Just as handsome, and able to take off faster
Though if this were to truely be the case, then Pavalti will end up being the giant.. because Eels are about as long as humans, if not longer..... not counting the addons being a cartoony anthro would give...

With your solution, Chaya will be down to barely a foot in height ............................................I like it. Staying with real life animal sizes is easy enough. But then it will be a lot like Rescuers, won't it? What does everyone else say?

well, if I ever choose to join in, I'd vote for them being closer to each other's height rather than actual heights, like the Rescue Rangers thing Shani mentioned.

I'd have to agree with kep, on that. If we're going to make them actually animal sizes, then we might as well nix morphic form altogether, because interactions between characters would be completely impractical. Buildings or any form of modern society wouldn't really make much sense, either.
I'm sure the idea of super small and super big characters is intriguing, but it would likely change the entire topography of the RP. Not that there's really much to go on as it is. But honestly, at 3 feet, Shani, Chaya would likely be the smallest fry on the island anyway.
I think we have to remember that height and size shouldn't -just- be relevant to the species, but to the character as well. I personally think the quasi-anthro form we have right now is the best choice. But that's my opinion.

Actually, in Rescuers (in any of the movies) they were perfectly anthro, and interactions were at a decent stage. they wore clothes, the resorted to certain people/beings to get around...
also, the RP is still being formed, so it's still maluable.
and if someone had a mouse, or another sort of small animal, like a crab, then they would be smaller than Chaya...
Besides, I kinda like height-relevancy to species, with alot of varying up and down due to the characteristics/genetics of the character......
....beats the hell out of bugs being 9 feet tall.
...besides, it's just a freaking suggestion, one that I KNEW several people were going to dislike. (noone likes my suggestions anyway, for I ish moron. :C )
But I'd honestly like to see someone here come up with a better idea... :\ aside from doing like we did in HE... (which may result in having bugs and crustacians 20 times their original height... with a slight forcast for "HOLYFUXBBQ")

Tropi, you're not a moron. =/ But you're right, the RP is still in a pretty malleable stage. I'm just throwing my own input in as well, dontcha know.

I like them quasi-anthro as they are now, but I also like them with height-relevancy to species. Just not so great that they wouldn't be able to use much of the same objects or fit through each others' doorways.
I think what we need to do is make a list of species which may appear in the RP, from mice and crabs to salt-water crocs, and sort them into very small, small, medium, big, huge and so on, groups, putting a max height cap on each of these groups, allowing them to overlap with each other, so that a char of a medium-sized group could easily be taller than a char of a big-sized group, depending on the individual and his characteristics.
...wow, that was one long sentence XB
