Ooh... well, the launch dates aren't concretely decided. According to Kepora, the 'binger will encounter the Cygnus 2 to 3 years from now, but since they jumped to that location in almost an instant, then their launch was also 2 to 3 years after the Harbinger's (the time they spend stranded will be only a month). If this is for age, you may leave that blank for now :3
And the Cygnus was just doing a routine, albeit heavily guarded, delivery from Earth to one of Jupiter's moons (a research lab).

actually, it's more for history. the character is Kaeruen's father. I currently have that he disappeared 8 years ago on some space related mission. I would like for him to be on the Cygnus, but I haven't yet been able to figure out how to manage that since there's almost no info about the Cygnus available.

Hmm... the only way, I think, is if he worked on the Cygnus all those 8 years without letting anyone know... maybe got a new identity... but the problems the ship runs into are yet to come, chronologically speaking.

would the cygnus have made any other stops on the way? if so, would he have been able to get on for the return trip?

I'm sure they would've made several trips in those 8 years.

That's not exactly what I meant. What I meant was would they have say stopped at Mars on the way to Jupiter? Or was this last trip non-stop? I'm trying to figure out a way for Dr. Arvandor to have been away from Earth for the last 8 years, but still be on the Cygnus when the Harbinger goes by. I have an idea, but it will only work if the Cygnus stopped at Mars on the way to Jupiter and was willing to pick up someone that was going to Jupiter.

I discussed it with Kep some and thought about it myself and, yes, the Cygnus would've made a pit stop on Mars. However, a new question arises: why didn't Dr. Arvandor get off of Mars sooner by hitching a ride on some other transport vessel from Mars to Earth?

that's simple enough...he wasn't done with his project yet. and he hitches a ride on the way to Jupiter because he needs to do some work there before he's completely done with his project.
