Full Name: Phaedra Nenet
Honorifics/Nicknames: Phae (Fay)
Gender: Female
Age: About 64, but cryo has paused her aging in her middle 40's
Birthday:
Height: 6'9"
Weight:
Species: Black Dragonfish
Eye color: Full black with a dim, white glow in the center. Reflects as silvery white at angles with certain light.
Body color: Oily black
Hair color: No hair, except for a photophoric bulb dangling from a stem coming out of her forehead.
Markings: Photophoric spots in symmetrical fashion line her body to form interesting patterns. They glow on command, having the ability to change colours of the visible spectrum.
Faint surgical scar down each limb and vertically down midsection.
Alignment:
General Appearance: Her skin has no sign of scales, giving it an oily look, almost like a highly flexible exoskeleton, though she does have very thin bones, making her oddly thin despite her height. Giant, needle-like teeth give her a perpetual grin, though expression can be seen by movements of her brows and almost non-existent lips.
Cyberization: Major. Lung implants. Bones have been carefully fitted with surgical 'reinforcements' to stabilize her out of water.
Vernacular: Slight gurgle when inhaling from lung implants. Deep, silky, womanly tone.
Personality: Strong willed, quiet, highly intelligent, feels like a sort of looming shadow when among others. She's generally friendly, but with her ghost-like presence and offsetting appearance most people tend to avoid her.
History: With technology as advanced as it was, helping near-surface aquatics finally able to experience land, it soon took an interest to those far beyond the reach of light. The SAMA (Surfacing of Abyssal Marine Anthropomorphs) project was then formed to see if any deep sea aquatics, those far along in anthro evolution, were interested in helping develop ways to bring them up.
Many species agreed, including Phae's parents, and each family was lowered a pressurised bathysphere to keep them in a stable environment as they were transported to the surface and into giant, pressurised holding tanks. But these would be their homes for the next few years, slowly adjusting them to the light and pressure of sea level.
While in adjustment a couple years into the project Phae was born, making her the first of all the families. The scientists took a huge interest in her, as she had the fastest rate of learning, as well as her ability to have levels raised faster than the rest. As a late teen the dragonfish was finally able to leave the tank, but lung implants weren't given until she was able to walk, especially with the bone braces.
Phae's parents were so proud, though they had a long while to still go. Her mind thirsted for the knowledge of the above water world. Always three steps ahead of the other species, she was the pride and joy of the project, even meeting with the head of giant companies when in her late 30's. Such as Professor Hangar himself and the head of Kirisawa, as well as other big names helping the world.
With SAMA having grown even bigger since its launch they began to look into the possibilities of space. Normal anthros, and even some aquatics, had already been successfully sent out and sustained, but now was the time of more water dwellers and especially the deep sea ones. Phae was their top priority to go out.
Unfortunately, as the ship made its way along the celestial bodies, an unmarked comet was noticed too late, smashing into and disabling the ship in both engine and means of communication. Some years passed, both crew and life support dwindling until Phae was the last. With the ship having drifted much too far off course, and into uncharted areas of the solar system, she converted the remaining power into a cryogenic escape pod which would hopefully keep her alive long enough until the tiny distress signal in it caught the attention of anyone.
She remains to this day in that frozen state, the ejected pod now drifting somewhere between Mars and the asteroid belt, the distress signal still reaching out for rescue.
