FEAR NOT BRAVE CITIZENS OF RP HAVEN! I have........ THE ANSWER *holds up book of d20 Future*
Okay, I'm cracking out this source material because dammit, them games with rules actually give a damn about them people who may go crazy in the streets, and potentially make the whole game no fun for the rest of us.
ALRIGHT.
There seems to be several kinds, health based, defence based and apparently if someone wants to kill you badly, there's also auto-offencive, nasty shiznit, thar. but let's see if I can sum it all up- cept the auto-offencive, as I doubt anyone wants a load of some of this in their character.
Nanoviruses -
Calcion: a beneficial nanovirus, calcion is one of the most commonly used nanocolonies in the field of medicine, it's a bone-knitting nanite that repairs fractures and breaks. it may or may not assist in repair skin.
Unseen Bodyguard: er, in short the colony shifts around your body and puts up a forcefield to protect incoming attacks. and can be controlled to adjust to another side to protect there. To make this a little more balanced, I'd say it only stays up a few seconds or few hits before powering down, just enough time for someone to run for cover or flank heavy fortification, just to make it fair for everyone, only people who are a high rank in security or military can have this nanite.
Onco-Guard: basically it helps stave off cancer, it isn't a cure, but it helps contain it and give you a better fighting chance against it.
basically any nanotechnology that helps stave off a disease or cancer or fixes something in your body, whatever, is all nice n beneficial.
Nanoaugmenters -
Brain boost: a nanite colony that gives increased memory.
Chatter: a useful nanoaugmentor frequently injected into soldiers on covert missions, chatter allows communication without speech.
Micro muscles: a boost to muscles, allowing the host to push their own muscles beyond their general capacity or lift things one would normally not be able to lift. (no, you may not go around lifting one-ton objects let's be serious here, nanites can't make you superman. they can allow you to lift up a slightly-heavier-than-you dude, I suppose. the book doesn't really say)
Soullink: nanoaugmenters that is frequented by pilots and drivers, seeking a greater interaction with their vehicles, however, the drawback is that if the vehicle suffers damage they too will suffer.
20/20: basically a vision enhancer.
Watchdog: these colonies moniter the health of a host, it moniters everything from heart rate and blood pressure to brain activity to the purity of air taken into the host's lungs. Basically something the doctors will put into you incase you seem well enough, or require immediately to return to whatever it was you were doing so they can moniter you from their medical deskies.
*thunderous book closing.*
That is so far all the book provides, save for nefarious nanites or just over all bad nanites.
if you need any clarification I shall crack this book open again to try and explain better.
