So.. you like it so much that you alter it, instead of keeping it simple as explained. ...Uh...huh... :\
From how I think it, light can be altered in color along certain areas, and working in conjunction with eachother can form an image, besides, light traveling through some glass can alter the colors, fine example? The Prism.

As for the super-flat screens, they have already been invented: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NcAm3KihFhouk.youtube.com/watch?v=8HLCVzTX2d4Currently, the XEL-1 is 11 inches diagonal and costs $2500, but I'm betting that the place/time the Harbinger Expedition takes place, they will be cheaper and have greater availability. Although considering that the constuction of the harby is already expensive, outfitting it with oleds would be a drop in the bucket for those bulding it. Most of the largest electronics corporations are already planning on phasing out LCD in favor of OLED and it derivatives starting as early as 2015. They consume almost no energy, weigh little, can be flexed into curved shapes, have no blurring or image retention and have superior image quality even in direct light. I think they have been available in many top of the line cellphones and digital cameras for a while now.

I just realized something we've yet to discuss, concerning the Harbinger and crew. Weapons. Considering the nature of their mission would weapons be present? And if so, in a lethal or subduing nature? After all, It's a long trip, and they may run into danger, or a crew member might have a lapse in sanity.
Personally I think weapons should be on board only in the capacity of disabling, like a stun gun. Anything else would have to be under high security and then we all pray that one of the security personnal doesn't go nuts. X3
What's everyone's thoughts?

If I remember correctly, security does have access to all the big guns. And yes, there are weapons on the Harbinger in case of anything, and even though only the captain and security get the official right to use them, Keppy said that the rest of the crew will receive some weapons training from Felix as well.

Will there be mechs? The Japanese company Kirisawa should make those!

Kirisawa Heavy Tech Industries HAS designed Mechs for warfare and heavy lifting and such, but they're more along the lines of Chrome Hounds and Mech Warrior than stuff like Gundam.

*SEXEH*
I wouldn't say Chromehounds due to the fact that Chromehounds is technically 2006 our time (just under different circumstances where technology was thrust forward enough to allow for the construction of such machines, especially in a region like Turkey/Georgia/Armenia etc). I think Mech Warrior type mechs is a better description but there would no doubt still be Chromehounds style mechs running around too, they'd just be a little older.
Gawd I luv mecha?

...a lot of the HOUND-Style mechs wer euse din ... Thought I was reading a mid-sentence translation from English to German there XD But yeah, I know what you mean, even though in Chromehounds' story line the parts of the HOUNDs where developed by the US during the Vietnam War.

well it could've started then, but it really hit it's zenith about 1/3 of the way into their cold war
