Since the Aliens one failed so badly, I'm considering doing a Dead Space one seeing the attention it's been garnering from a number of my friends and even fellow RPers, and the fact that I've completely fallen in love with this franchise. So far, my friend Mike and I started an RP over IM that ended up ont he Harbinger, adn the creepy/horror part seemed to keep things moving rather briskly, me keeping him wanting to see what happens next-me exercising my CM/DM skills, basically. For this RP, I'd assume a GM/DM roll, presenting you guys with settings and situations as you progress, controlling the Necromorphs, and possibly even using dice to determine chacnes and even set up stat sheets. Would any of you guys be interested in this?
!!!NOTICE!!! !!!NOTICE!!! !!!NOTICE!!!
If you don't want to be a part of it, then simply do not participate/post here. This will take place aboard the Harbinger, and if your characters are signed up as the crew, they're part of the crew. If you do not participate, I will honestly do what I can to properly portray them should they appear. IF I hear any "don't use my/other people's characters D=<" whining, you're simply signing your character's death certificate. And I'll see to it that it won't be a pretty death-all drama shall also be dealt with in this way.
Long story short: start drama/won't be reasonable/willing to work out issues? You're dead and thus out of the RP. End of story. For those of you who wanna have fun, let's do this thing! =D
Edited by Neon Albatross to be less painful to read.

I offer a suggestion...
I suggest you use a random npc in their stead.
If random npc is insufficient, then the second offer is that the parts of the known crew belonging to people that do not participate are on a mission off the Harbinger. And said same npcs take their place.
Please consider these offers.

That seems reasonable, what Tropi is saying. I don't see any reason why they can't be off-ship doing something when this happens, I know Zap would bail at first opportunity, and considering her technological advancements, she'd most likely see it coming long before it happened. Contrary to what I told Kep a night or two ago, I may actually participate after all, more because there are a couple of driving forces I want to be behind, and make sure it's done right But yeah, it seems perfectly fair that if people have a large issue, their characters can have an explained absence.

Also, on addition to my suggestion (since my prievious post just signed my bucket butt up for participating... funky how all this works).
I submit 134ND17 to the battlefield. But request excusement for the other characters from the rp.
Because I believe in fun too, dammit, contrary to popular belief... even when I have to be a mod and be a party crasher.... ._.

Dead Space: DownfallEnjoy This is a prequel to the video game that explains what happened to set up the events. If you're going to play the game you should see this first if you have not.

I concur with Tropi and Elliot. Speaking of which, I guess I'll have to participate if they will but Em is the only one of my chars who'd stay behind - he wouldn't leave his baby! p.s. you could act a little less dramatic yourself, Keppy.

Yeah, I basically signed on with the only exception that Elliot survives. And I will be assuring that by being there and controlling her XD
But yeah, there's a few other little points that only a couple other people know of, gotta deal with them too :3

By "with the only exception that Elliot survives" do you mean she's the only of your characters who survives, or that she'll be the only one in action?
Also, when does this take place? Do we keep our chars the same ages they are?

By that I mean she's the only one of my characters that survives. And I think that it happens after we meet up with the second ship, as one of my characters from there is going to be used. So probably a year or two in the future, Kep needs to do details

This would be after they encounter the Cygnus and leave the system; one could say it's even on the planet they were headed to. The only real issue is that a lot of people are now saying "Include this character and this character but exclude the others" which, as a DM, presents me with an issue; where exactly -would- they go, then? Should we just leave them as background characters and only mention them when something happens relating to them, leave them int he dig team that'll find the marker (and most likely be doomed to the first wave of infection), what?

Probably an exploration team to a different planet that's nearby the infected planet, but free of the infection. but become unbeknownst to the happenings on the infected planet.
But as a GM, it's more or less up to you honestly to get REALLY immaginative.
I mean, c'mon, I'm a GM too, sortof, and I know if I'm ever to be a good GM like my Dad, I've got to get scary imaginative with my adventures some time or another.
And also, if this is after the Cygnus encounter, I'll bring in Eden too... since he deals with kicking ass and leaving out the names... especially heavy machine to submachine weaponry. Perhaps Sin and Dizzy too. .... and maybe I'll keep Sol (MEDICS WE NEED MEDICS D8)

Yes, you're going to need medics for the ones unfortunate enough to actually survive an encounter with a Necromorph...insanity (caused either by the trauma of the attack, the marker itself, or the virus/"hive mind" of the necromorphs) usually starts after being bitten, though I believe even being stabbed could cause it

If this is right after Cygnus (2-3 years according to what Keppy originally said), I might bring in a few other chars as well. Maybe not Barega since, like Zap, he'd prolly get off the ship the first chance he got, but Beaky can kick some ass too (moreso in a cockpit, but oh well).
Now, the reason people are including only some characters and excluding others, is because, believe it or not, they don't want them to die horribly. This is why they're replaced with capable characters who could better handle themselves in such a setting, wishing the others to be someplace far away where this mess would not touch them. Cause, frankly, we signed up for The Harbinger Expedition, not a crossover with Dead Space.
But seeing as you really want this RP, we can't prohibit you from GMing it. However, we are partly responsible for coming up with where most of the crew had gone, since you never planned ahead for this yourself. This will be beyond Eris, so the only planets they would be checking out would be planetoids such as Makemake or Haumea if it's still in our solar system. Not sure what they would be inspecting over there, though. If they had gone farther through sub-light jumps, then perhaps they reached a new system of planets and decided to split into two teams: most of the crew, which we know by name, went to one planet, and those we'll be using plus the rest of the 300 NPCs we have filling our ship happened across the infected planet.

That's a better explanation, Shani. Also, as for "getting away ahead of time" or whatever...it's one of those thigns that no one sees coming, and no one really knows until it's far too late.
